Excommunicated Issue 1

Release Day

ORDER FROM JETPACK HERE

As the release date for Nectar #1 closed in, Vault Comics wanted to temper my expectations. I was informed (accurately) that an indie horror title had a sales ceiling. Reaching that peak number was something of a holy grail. Nigh impossible to reach, especially for a first timer like me. Reserved for the biggest indie hits by people in the business for years.

It’s been two months and my first three issues (Nectar #1 and #2, and Excommunicated #1) have ALL crushed that number. Like, decimated it. And now, Excommunicated #1 is ready for you to read and weigh in. Does it live up to the hype? Does it deserve all the attention and sales? I’m eager to hear what you all think, and very excited to get all four issues into your hands so you can enjoy Sister Josephine and Edimmu as much as I do. Let’s dig in!

EXCOMMUNICATED #1

RELEASE DATE: TODAY (sort of). Here’s the deal. All of the variant covers for Excommunicated were shipped on time and will be available at shops today. BUT, there was a SNAFU with the printing/shipping of the primary cover, which has been delayed until NEXT Wednesday.

Why this is important for you: Variant covers are more rare and collectable. As a result, they sell for more than the cover price. Sometimes a lot more. If you’re looking to pick up the book for cover price, you’ll have to wait until next Wednesday, the 13th.

That said, Excommunicated #1 has already become one of the hottest selling indie comics of 2026, it’s getting rave reviews, and it’s already scheduled for a second printing.

Also, I drew this cover! ====>

I recently was interviewed about Excommunicated by Comics Bulletin. If you’re interested in learning more about the comic and my thoughts on it, read the interview here.

The Story:

In Excommunicated, a devoted nun and a corrupting demon both find themselves cast out after a disastrous exorcism. Excommunicated from the Church and rejected by Hell, the unlikely pair are forced into an uneasy alliance to uncover a conspiracy that threatens far more than their own survival.

Robinson, known for nearly 100 novels including Infinite, The Others, and the Good Boys trilogy, draws on his deep knowledge of Biblical texts and early translations to reshape familiar lore. His take reexamines the figure of “the satan” and the mysterious Elohim, building a mythos that challenges common interpretations. The result is a story packed with dark humor, violence, and theological twists.

WHERE TO BUY

Hopefully you pre-ordered a copy. Many people didn’t with Nectar #1 and missed out. That said, Excommunicated #1 had a much larger first printing, so there SHOULD be copies on the shelves, especially after the primary cover ships next week. With comic books, you need to get them from your local shop. If you don’t have a local shop, not to fear. I have partnered with MY local shop, Jetpack Comics, to make every cover and issue available to everyone in the U.S. of A.
