In the late 1960s, Stan Lee started a regular column in the back of Marvel’s monthly comics called ‘Stan’s Soapbox’. In it, he gave his various opinions on many things but also got readers excited with news of what Marvel was working on and what to expect in the future. It was a look behind the scenes for readers. I figured I’d do something similar for fans of our Breakneck Comics imprint (through Vault Comics). And since my actual desk sits in the corner of my office—surrounded by hundreds of Marvel and DC omnibus hardcover editions—the title seemed appropriate! I’ll check in with you fine readers every month, but here, instead of in the comics themselves.
Hi there. I’m Kane Gilmour. I edit all the comics Breakneck is putting together. We launched our runaway hit NECTAR this past March and were stunned with the response! (And yeah, we know some of that was speculators going wild in the secondhand market with the multitudes of amazing and stunning variant covers that Vault arranged for us, but we’d like to think that much of it was also Jeremy Robinson’s enormous fanbase from his two decades of spectacular sci-fi, horror, and adventure novels!) By the time this blog post goes live, our second comic, EXCOMMUNICATED will be hitting shelves, too!
And we have a lot more in store for you. NECTAR is a four-issue series (with #3 in May and #4 in June) and it will, of course, have a cool trade paperback (TPB) which follows in August. The folks at Vault have already laid out and designed that TPB, by the way. So, thanks to the amazing Tim Daniel for that! EXCOMMUNICATED will also run four issues and be followed with a TPB. I know. Four issues might not seem like a lot when you just found some new best friends in these fun stories. But fear not! Jeremy has already written a follow-up NECTAR series for 2027 (and our phenomenal art team of Annapaola Martello, Francesco Francini, and Steve Canon are already drawing it up!) Right now, Jeremy is writing a sequel series for EXCOMMUNICATED as well! Not sure yet when that one will be released, but not this year. We have other things planned…
Later in the year we’ll also be launching ONE ZERO ZERO ONE SAVES THE WORLD! That will be our third series, and right now it’s looking like a November release. I’ll be sharing more about that book as the year goes on. And then, for anyone who had perused our previous version of this website, you’ll know we have two more series lined up for 2027! Those will be GROTESQUE (with art from the stellar Mario Santoro) and a brand-new comic book adaption of the PROJECT NEMESIS novel (with mind-blowing art from Agustin Padilla)!

Check back here monthly, and I’ll give you all the goods on these series as we go. I might drop a panel or two of artwork along the way. I’ll let you know as Jeremy finishes scripts. I’ll give you behind the scenes peeks into how it all happens. I’ll let you know release dates and final order cutoff (FOC) dates as we learn them. Jeremy and I have a lot of plans for the world of comics. (You should also check out the nearly one hundred novels and novellas Jeremy has written—and maybe check out my books too! Between us, you’ve got boatloads of fantastic fiction to keep you busy between comic book days each week!)
Oh, and one final thing before I sign off this month. Jeremy has a little Facebook group set up called TRIBE. It’s around 6000 folks at the moment. It’s not one of those ‘Jeremy posts something once in a blue moon’ kind of social media thingies. It’s a solid community. I’m in there every day. Jeremy comments in there every day. It’s a fantastic place full of people excited by his work, and we do fun stuff there, like show artwork early, hand out advance reading copies of his novels, and we even give away cool stuff weekly! Then in December we do a crazy ‘12 Days of Christmas’ thing with cool swag giveaways each day for twelve days. This being a HUGE comics year for us, I wouldn’t want to miss out on that if you’re a NECTAR or EXCOMMUNICATED fan. Any kind of cool, hard-to-find stuff might be given away. So. Come join the Tribe! Welcome to Breakneck Comics!
